Casio’s electronic instruments charged into the world of music in the ‘80s, and you can be sure that many of today’s popular professional musicians learned their chops at home on a Casio keyboard. The company has since gone on to become a world leader in keyboards, digital pianos, and synthesizers. Designed for beginners and intermediate musicians, the versatile Casio CTK-4400 61-Key Portable Keyboard is an excellent and affordable choice for practice and development.

A World of Sound

The Casio CTK-4400 comes with a huge library of 600 eclectic sounds, giving you an unbeatable musical pallet. Concert grands, classic synths, brass instruments, woodwinds, strings, and more are all excellently emulated and ready to use in your experimentation and composition. The breadth of this diverse sound bank offer a world of exciting creative possibilities.

Dynamic Effects

You can make every sound uniquely your own with the CTK-4400’s dynamically adjustable effects. The simple touch of a button can add the deep, resonating sound of a professional concert hall to any performance. Additional, adjustable chorus and reverb effects will enhance your personal style and bring a professional level of sophistication to your play.

It’s Got Rhythm

180 of them, in fact. That’s right, 180 onboard rhythms that you can practice and play along with. They span a wide range of styles, giving you the opportunity to try out techniques in a new style with the help of a realistic backup band. They’re perfect for developing your rhythm and timing, and it’s great for solo jam sessions with realistic accompaniment.

The Teaching Keyboard

The Casio CTK-4400 comes loaded with Casio’s innovative Step-Up Lesson System. Designed to walk students through the process of mastering a song, Step-Up helps students memorize the parts of a song while providing guidance on fingering and notation. The student then puts the pieces together into a full performance, which Step-Up evaluates and grades to to encourage practice and improvement.

The Step-Up Lesson System comes pre-loaded with over 150 beautiful songs for the piano – songs that you can add to your repertoire as you advance your skills. Better still, it will incrementally track your accomplishments so that you can see your progression throughout the learning process.

Expand and Learn

In addition to the huge library of songs included with the Step-Up Lesson System, the CTK-4400 also has enough memory for you to add about ten songs of your own. Even if your favorite piece isn’t already in the factory bank, you can still use the Step-Up system to learn it! The only feature that you won’t get with user-added songs is the fingering guide.

Connect and Play

A stereo mini audio input allows you to connect your Casio CTK-4400 with your MP3 player, iPad, or smartphone, and stream songs through your keyboard. You can play along with all your favorite tracks, and you can even sample parts of the audio and trigger them with the keyboard.

In addition, the CTK-4400 is capable of connecting to your home computer using a simple USB connection. It also comes with built-in General MIDI (GM Level 1) support for connection to a MIDI-capable computer port or to another GM-compatible device.

Personal Studio

The CTK-4400’s onboard 6-track recording system can hold up to five songs, serving as an incredibly useful tool in all aspects of your play. You can use it to track the progress of your learning, record performances for self-assessment and improvement, or even just record your noodling so that your musical ideas don’t get left behind.

The Casio CTK-4400 61-Key Portable Keyboard is a robust instrument that’s perfect for developing your technique, learning new songs, and even creating compositions of your own. It’s a versatile tool for musical development at home, in your practice space, or even in schools, and its affordable price makes it well worth consideration for learners of any age or skill level.

This was a gift for our 7 year old granddaughter. This keyboard is perfect size for her and she loves it. Hopefully in a few years she will be able to “graduate” to a real piano.

Excellent keyboard for the price. It has touch sensitive keyboard that can be adjusted and hundreds of different sounds. It doesn’t sound like a real piano but you can’t expect that at this price.

Casio CTK 4400 actually exceeded my expectations. I like the feature that shows you keys in the display when playing preset songs. I also has a ton of other useful features for a beginner player like myself.

Does this model have a keys sustain function? This is the only thing keeping me from buying this. Otherwise, tried it at the store – feels extremely good to play!

  5. Ernie  - May 1, 2016 - 7:56 am

I can’t test it in a store, can anybody tell me how noisy (or not) the keys are for others when I play with a headset on? I now use an old Korg M1 but the keys are incredibly noisy. Even when I play with an amp I have to really turn it up to overcome the noise of the keys. And that I do not want again…
